Curriculum Support

ICT Education Delivery Service

To accompany the technical support that Ark ICT offers, we are now supporting schools with their Educational needs and the delivery of their curriculum. With a fully qualified teacher on the team, we offer support and training in both on the computing curriculum and the use of technology in schools.

All training and support are planned and delivered by our ICT Education Specialist who is an experienced, qualified primary school teacher (BEd Hons), who has been using ICT within the classroom for the last six years. After working as a Specialist Leader in Education (SLE) for ICT in Lincolnshire, and as a senior leader in schools for ICT, she has joined the team to share her knowledge as part of Ark’s services.

The ever-changing technology and resources can make keeping up to date with the curriculum a hard task. At Ark we will have a range of specialist computing technology (see loaning page) that can be hired by our schools. This could be a solution to those schools who are yet to invest in technology and will allow teachers to see the most up to date technology and how it can be used in schools. We offer affordable hire rates for schools to try and test such equipment before making their own purchases.

Alternatively, schools can request for Ark to deliver their computing curriculum, with lessons taught by a qualified teacher, who has a thorough insight into the classroom.

Support on curriculum planningcoverage mappingassessment and auditing and developing current provision can be offered. Lesson plans and resources can be developed alongside subject leaders or teachers, guiding them to develop a curriculum that meets their school’s requirements. These curriculum writing sessions are developed on an individual basis, specifically written for your school, taking into consideration the technology you have, and the learner’s needs, and producing a bespoke curriculum.

Alongside the computing curriculum, guidance on the use of technology to aid specific School Development Needs can be supported. Ark aims to be at the forefront of the latest technology and strives to be able to offer support on enhancing school’s uses of ICT.

Lastly, ARK education can help to support with the delivery of E-Safety and STEAM within your school: both prominent elements of the curriculum, with continuous expanding and changing content. Support and lessons can be arranged for pupils, staff and parents alike.

Examples of School Training

Staff Training:

  • Writing the Computing Curriculum- a day spent with the Computing Coordinator in your school setting to produce a whole school computing curriculum, written and resourced. This curriculum will be developed relative to your school’s needs, creating a full curriculum document with lesson ideas and resources for each year group. Follow up sessions with each Key Stage is advised to show staff the resources and overview of lessons for their year groups.
  • Online Safety Coverage- half a day spent with the Computing Coordinator or PSHE leader to discuss our Online Safety scheme of work. Our document has been developed using the Education for a Connected World guidance and the new RSE expectations. This scheme will then be given for your school to use and implement.
  • Staff Meetings- planned and delivered on a variety of content, such as Seesaw, Key Stage specific workshops (e.g. Scratch/Scratch Jr), website setup, using iPads effectively in the classroom, etc.
  • INSET Training- how to use iPads in the curriculum effectively, using Virtual Reality (VR) in the classroom, etc.

Curriculum Enrichment Sessions:

  •  E-Safety Sessions for pupils, parents and staff- Key Stage two workshops can be run, identifying the current issues pupils are facing and giving a thorough overview of how to stay safe online.
  • Film making experiences- bringing in our green screen technology, we support pupils in creating their own videos, looking at all aspects from filming to editing.
  • VR Experiences- with our class set of 32 Virtual Reality headsets, we visit schools to fully immerse the pupils in their topics
  • Robotic and STE(A)M Enrichment sessions- bringing in our own robotics equipment, we can offer engaging sessions to bring computing to life.
